President's Invitation

From IASCA president and 6-time state champion Tim McEntee:

At the annual meeting, I was elected President.  For those that don't know me, I am now a six-time state champion and was President back in the early 2000s.  I am also a Senior Tournament Director.  This invitation is to everyone that wants to get involved in Iowa chess as we have many opportunities.

If you currently are meeting at a chess club on a regular basis, I would like to know when and where they meet.  I am planning on dropping on as many clubs as possible this summer.  Having this information will also help me answer people's questions as to what clubs are in their area.

If you are planning or thinking of holding a chess tournament, send whatever information or questions you have.  We had someone at the meeting indicate they would like to hold a few tournaments and I know directors/organizers are planning their events now as well.  I would like to have a completed schedule in the next month that shows tournaments through next March.

If you would like to help in other areas, the following might interest you, Scholastics, En Passant, web site, regular tournaments, social media communications and fund raising to name a few.  At this time, I am looking for people to help in these areas, not necessarily take them over.  Even if you don't have a lot of time to contribute, your contribution will still be appreciated.
