WIU Cinco de Mayo Tournament 2019
For the second year in a row, Western Illinois University hosted the Cinco de Mayo chess tournament on Saturday May 4th, in which 32 players from the Quad Cities, Burlington and Iowa City competed in three categories. Arthur Mueller from Davenport, the Illowa chess champion, was the winner in the Open category with 3.5 points, Robert L. Reynolds from Burlington, IA, was second, Luis M. Peralta from Moline and Eric G. Vigil from Iowa City tied for third; Cody B. Noble from Bettendorf won the U1400 category with 3.5 points, and Niyitunga Jeanvier was the winner in the Beginners category. Tony Britton was the tournament director.
