Irene Fei North American Youth Under 8 Girls Champion!!!!!
Irene Fei went 8.5 of 9 to solidly win the North American Under 8 girls title. She went into round 9 with a 1.5 game lead over her nearest competitor and could have taken a nap and won the tournament! You have to love a stress free last round as we in the chess world know that doesn't happen often. With the victory she wins the conditional WCM FIDE title she has to go on to make a certain rating criteria and then the WCM is given. All the more reason for Irene to have more chess lessons. Her mother Yan would love to see more rated chess events in Ames and Des Moines over the board to give Irene the experience she needs to achieve a better rating.
