Congratulations Coralvills Central on their win in the individual team championship. They Brought the house and took 19 players to Ames for the event.

2016 Iowa Girls Chess Championship

The Iowa State Chess Association is pleased to host the 2016 Iowa Girls Chess Championship. This is the IASCA qualifying event to represent Iowa at the USCF Girls National Chess Championship. 

Where: Ladd Library, Cedar Rapids Public Library, 3750 Williams Blvd SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404.

Coming up is one of my favorite chess tournaments of the year. The All Girls Chess tournament used to send the female champion of Iowa to the National Girls Invitational tournament that is held at the US Open. 

Time Control: G/45 with 5 seconds delay. 

Rounds: 10:00 am, 12:15 pm, Rounds 3 and 4 ASAP. If at the end of the 4th round a playoff will be held with all the tied players to determine a champion at the mutual agreement of the players. Half-point bye available any round if requested before round 1.

Prizes: Trophies to the top five overall. Top scores for USCF 800, 600, 400, 200 and Unrated. Participant medals for all players. Entry Fee: $15, if registered by 02/18/2016. $20 on site. Register by email and then pay on-site is acceptable. USCF Membership is required. 

Memberships are available on site.

Registration: 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM.

Directions: Take Highway 30 to Williams Blvd exit (West of I-380). Travel into Cedar Rapids. Ladd Library is across the street from Westdale Mall behind Pizza Ranch.
