Iowa State Chess Association

Northwest Junior High, Coralville Iowa Team of Joseph Wan, Michael Takahashi, Barry Vigil and Vladimir Tivanski represented Iowa in the K-8 championship section and brought home 8th place. Joseph scored 6 of 7 and was 4th place individually gaining a rating of 2205 making him Iowa's newest Master. Michael Takahashi placed 25th overall. Vladimir's two upsets of 1400 ranked players and Barry's shrewd draw in the last round brought the team up from 10th to 8th. Great Job guys.
