Steve Killian Obituary

Longtime Illowa Chess Club member and former president Steve Killian passed recently after a battle with cancer. For years he was an active player in Iowa and Illinois. Here is his obit and below a link to said obit. Stephen Dennis Killian passed away Oct. 11, 2017, in Cave Creek, Arizona, after beating pancreatic cancer for four years. He was 70 years old. Steve was born on Feb. 15, 1947, in Evanston, Illinois. He graduated from Loyola Academy in Chicago and went on to Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology in St. Louis. 3 share top prize at the Moline Open Tim McEntee, Dan Brashaw and Gokul Thangavel tied for top honors with 3.5-.5 points at the Moline Open, held at the Western Illinois Quad-City Campus in Moline. The 27-player Iowa mini-qualifier was hosted by the Western Illinois Leatherneck Chess Club in conjunction with the Illowa Bi-State Chess Club of the Quad-Cities.
